Identification lights. Each of the following is a requirement for identification lights: (1) An identification light is a group of three lights mounted at the same height with the centers of the lights in the group of lights spaced not less than 6 inches nor more than 12 inches apart. (2) The following types of identification lights shall be placed as indicated: (a) Front identification lights shall be placed on the front of the vehicle. (b) Rear identification lights shall be placed on the rear of the vehicle. (3) Identification lights shall be mounted as close as practicable to the top of the vehicle. (4) Identification lights shall be mounted as close as practicable to the vertical centerline of the vehicle on that part of the vehicle where the identification lights are mounted. (5) Front identification lights shall be an amber color. Rear identification lights shall be a red color. (6) Identification lights that are required ORS 816.320 and 816.330 shall be mounted, so far as practicable, in such manner as to reduce the hazard of being obscured by mud or dust thrown by the wheels. (7) Identification lights shall be capable of being seen and distinguished at a distance of 500 feet directly from that part of the vehicle on which the lights are placed.
