Oregon Revised Statutes Chapter 816 § 816.200 — Clearance lights

Clearance lights. Each of the following is a requirement for clearance lights as indicated: (1) The following types of clearance lights shall be placed as indicated: (a) Front clearance lights shall be placed on the front of the vehicle. When more than one front clearance light is required under ORS 816.320 and 816.330, at least one front clearance light shall be on each side of the front of the vehicle. (b) Rear clearance lights shall be placed on the rear of the vehicle. When more than one rear clearance light is required under ORS 816.320 and 816.330, at least one rear clearance light shall be on each side of the rear of the vehicle. (2) The following are the colors for indicated type of clearance lights: (a) Front clearance lights shall be amber. (b) Rear clearance lights shall be red. (3) Clearance lights shall be mounted on the permanent structure of the vehicle in such a manner as to indicate its extreme width and shall be mounted as near the top of the vehicle as practicable. (4) Clearance lights may be mounted in combination with side marker lights if illumination is given as required with reference to both. (5) Clearance lights that are required under ORS 816.320 and 816.330 shall be mounted, so far as practicable, in such manner as to reduce the hazard of being obscured by mud or dust thrown by the wheels. (6) Clearance lights shall be capable of being seen and distinguished at a distance of 500 feet directly from that part of the vehicle on which the lights are placed.
