Prohibition on showing name or address on permit. (1) Vehicle permits issued under ORS 803.600 to 803.615 that are required to be displayed so as to be visible from the outside of a vehicle shall not show the name or address of the registered owner of the vehicle or of the person who has applied for registration or titling of the vehicle. (2) The Department of Transportation may require that permits described in this section contain the driver license number of the registered owner or of the person who has applied for registration or titling of the vehicle displaying the permit and the name of the state that issued the driver license. (3) If the department determines that the information authorized by subsection (2) of this section is not sufficient to identify the registered owner or person who has applied for registration or titling of a vehicle issued a permit described in this section, the department may require that the person operating the vehicle have in the person’s possession any information the department determines is necessary for identification. Such information, if required, shall be on a form prescribed by rule by the department and may not be required to be displayed so as to be visible from outside the vehicle.
