Statute Text
General powers and duties.
(1) The Director of the Department of Consumer and Business Services shall
enforce the provisions of the Insurance Code for the public good, and shall
execute the duties imposed by the code.
(2) The director
has the powers and authority expressly conferred by or reasonably implied from
the provisions of the Insurance Code.
(3) The director
may conduct such examinations and investigations of insurance matters, in
addition to examinations and investigations expressly authorized, as the
director considers proper to determine whether any person has violated any
provision of the Insurance Code or to secure information useful in the lawful
administration of any such provision. The cost of such additional examinations
and investigations shall be borne by the state.
(4) The director
has such additional powers and duties as may be provided by other laws of this
