Replacement of one ambulance service by another. (1) When a city, county or district requires an ambulance service currently operating within the city, county or district to be replaced by another public or private ambulance service, the city, county or district shall provide that: (a) Emergency medical services provider staffing is maintained at least at the levels established in the local plan for ambulance services and ambulance service areas developed under ORS 682.062; and (b) When hiring emergency medical services providers to fill vacant or new positions during the six-month period immediately following the date of replacement, the replacement ambulance service shall give preference to qualified employees of the previous ambulance service at comparable levels of licensure. (2) As used in this section: (a) “Ambulance service” means any individual, partnership, corporation, association or agency that provides transport services and emergency medical services through use of licensed ambulances. (b) “District” has the meaning given that term by ORS 198.010. [Formerly 682.305; 2011 c.703 8]
