Statute Text
Safe
Employment Education and Training Advisory Committee; members; terms; expenses;
duties; meetings.
(1) The Director of the Department of Consumer and Business Services may
appoint a Safe Employment Education and Training Advisory Committee composed of
seven members: Three representing employees, three representing employers and
one representing the Department of Consumer and Business Services. The
committee shall elect its chairperson.
(2) The members
of the committee shall be appointed for a term of three years and shall serve
at the pleasure of the director. Before the expiration of the term of a member,
the director shall appoint a successor. A member is eligible for reappointment.
If there is a vacancy for any cause, the director shall make an appointment to
become immediately effective.
(3) The members
shall serve without compensation, but shall be entitled to travel expenses
pursuant to ORS 292.495.
(4) The duties of
the committee shall be determined by the director and shall include, but not be
limited to:
(a) Recommending
to the director:
(A) Occupational
Safety and Health Grant application procedures and criteria for grant approval;
(B) Occupational
Safety and Health Grant recipients; and
(C) Revocation of
grants to recipients failing to comply with grant criteria established by the
director pursuant to ORS 654.191.
(b) Receiving and
processing Occupational Safety and Health Grant applications.
(5) The committee
shall meet at least once every three months at a place, day and hour determined
by the committee. The committee shall also meet at other times and places
specified by a majority of the members of the committee or the chairperson of
the committee. A majority of the members of the committee constitutes a quorum
for the transaction of business. [1989 c.857 §3]
