Payment of salaries and expenses. The salary of the chief deputy state fire marshals and deputy state fire marshals, compensation of clerks and other assistants and other expenses of the Department of the State Fire Marshal necessary in the performance of the duties imposed upon the State Fire Marshal shall be paid in the same manner as are other state officers and the expenses of other state departments, and shall not exceed the amount paid to the State Treasurer for the maintenance of the Department of the State Fire Marshal.
