Definitions for ORS 455.560 to 455.580. As used in ORS 455.560 to 455.580, unless the context requires otherwise: (1) “Department” means the Department of Consumer and Business Services. (2) “Director” means the Director of the Department of Consumer and Business Services. (3) “Person” means an individual, partnership, joint venture, private or public corporation, association, firm, public service company, political subdivision, municipal corporation, government agency, people’s utility district, or any other entity, public or private, however organized. (4) “Public buildings” means any building, including outdoor area adjacent thereto, which is open to the public during normal business hours, except exempted buildings. Each of the following is a public building within the meaning of ORS 455.560 to 455.580, unless it or any portion thereof is exempted by rule or order pursuant to ORS 455.570 (2), (3) and (4): (a) Any building which provides facilities or shelter for public assembly, or which is used for educational, office or institutional purposes; (b) Any inn, hotel, motel, sports arena, supermarket, transportation terminal, retail store, restaurant, or other commercial establishment which provides services or retails merchandise; (c) Any portion of an industrial plant building used primarily as office space; or (d) Any building owned by the state or political subdivision thereof, including libraries, museums, schools, hospitals, auditoriums, sports arenas and university buildings.
