State
Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation.
(1) There is created a State Advisory Committee on
Historic Preservation consisting of not more than nine members appointed by the
Governor. At least one-half of the members shall be from among persons
recognized as professionals in the areas of history, architectural history,
architecture, archaeology, museum management or cultural or ethnic minorities.
A representative of the Oregon Native American Indian community shall be
appointed.
(2) The
committee:
(a) Shall review
and make recommendations concerning nominations by the State Historic
Preservation Officer of properties to the state and national registers of
historic properties and places;
(b) Shall advise
the State Historic Preservation Officer on matters of policy, programs and
budget; and
(c) May perform
such other duties as may be requested by the State Historic Preservation
Officer.
(3) The Governor
shall select the chairperson and vice chairperson with such terms and duties as
the committee may prescribe. Five members of the committee constitute a quorum.
The committee shall meet a minimum of three times a year.
(4) Members of
the committee shall not receive compensation but shall be entitled to actual
and necessary travel expenses subject to ORS 292.495.
(5) The committee
shall develop the criteria for the creation of an Oregon State Register of
Historic Properties, and review properties for acceptance by the Oregon
Property Management Account and may appoint any other committee or subcommittee
necessary to carry out its functions. [1983 c.268 §5]
