State Historic Preservation Officer. (1) The Governor shall designate a State Historic Preservation Officer who shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor. In case of vacancy, the Governor shall designate a successor. (2) The State Historic Preservation Officer shall appoint a staff of persons well qualified in history, architectural history, architecture, archaeology and education as technical assistants and analysts. (3) In addition to the powers and duties assigned to the State Historic Preservation Officer under ORS 358.480 to 358.545, the State Historic Preservation Officer shall perform whatever functions as are authorized by law.
