Division of Audits to issue notification of budgetary irregularities;
Department of Revenue to advise municipal corporation of correct procedures.
(1) The Division of Audits created
by ORS 297.020 shall notify the municipal corporation and Department of Revenue
of any irregularities in the budget procedure of the municipal corporation
which is brought to its attention in the audits prepared by the division or
brought to its attention in audits which are required to be filed with the
division.
(2) If the
Department of Revenue finds from the information submitted by the Division of
Audits pursuant to subsection (1) of this section that ORS 294.305 to 294.565
have not been followed, the Department of Revenue shall order the municipal
corporation to correct its procedures in the preparation of its subsequent
budgets. The order shall set forth the irregularities and the steps necessary
to prevent such irregularities from happening in the future. Such order shall
be a public record. [1963 c.576 §34a]
