Application for survey permit; effect of permit; rules. (1) The Department of State Lands upon application by any person may permit geological, geophysical and seismic surveys, including the taking of cores and other samples for purposes related to exploration for oil, gas and sulfur on lands subject to ORS 274.705 to 274.860. However: (a) Such permits shall be nonexclusive and shall not give any preferential rights to any oil, gas and sulfur lease. (b) The Department of State Lands in consultation with the State Department of Geology and Mineral Industries may grant permission for the taking of cores and other samples. (c) After consultation with the State Fish and Wildlife Commission, the Department of State Lands shall include such rules and regulations in the permit as are necessary to protect the fish and wildlife resources. (2) Each application under this section must contain at least the following information: (a) A description of the areas where the applicant proposes to conduct a survey.
