Ordinances of previously incorporated cities continued in effect; initiation of
civil and criminal actions.
(1) The ordinances in force in the previously incorporated cities at the time
of the creation of the newly formed incorporated city by virtue of ORS 222.210,
so far as the ordinances are not inconsistent with the charter adopted for the
newly formed municipal corporation, shall continue in effect within the limits
of the newly formed municipal corporation and shall be deemed its ordinances
subject to the provisions of said charter and subject to modification,
amendment or repeal by the council or other governing body of the newly created
municipal corporation.
(2) From the date
the newly formed municipal corporation comes into existence, all complaints and
prosecutions for crimes committed or ordinances violated and all suits or
causes of action arising within the territory of the municipal corporation
prior to its creation may be instituted in said incorporated city with the same
effect as if it had been in existence prior to the violations, subject however,
to the provisions of the charter of the newly formed municipal corporation.
