257.311a – Issuance of receipt for operator's or chauffeur's license; form; approval; design; effect; expiration of receipt and license; renewal of license | Michigan Law

This law requires courts to issue a receipt when a person surrenders their operator's or chauffeur's license due to a misdemeanor or ordinance violation, provided the license is valid. The receipt grants temporary driving privileges identical to the surrendered license until it or the license itself expires. The secretary of state may renew the license if it expires during this period.
