OPINIONS OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL Editor's notes. - In light of the similarity of the statutory provisions, opinions under Ga. L. 1941, p. 300, § 3 and former § 19-8-3 , as enacted by Ga. L. 1977, p. 201, § 1, are included in the annotations for this Code section. Minor mother's consent to adoption of illegitimate child. - Minor mother may give binding consent to adoption of her illegitimate child. 1948-49 Op. Att'y Gen. p. 615 (decided under Ga. L. 1941, p. 300, § 3). Parental rights must be addressed. - If an adoption petition is presented to the court, and the rights of the natural parents or putative father have never been addressed, the court is required to deny the petition. 1985 Op.
