The 2018 amendment, effective January 1, 2019, rewrote the provisions of subsection (c), which formerly read: "This chapter does not confer upon a victim any standing to participate as a party in a criminal proceeding or to contest the disposition of any charge." L. 2018, p. 920, § 2/SB 127, not codified by the General Assembly, provides, in part, that the changes to subsection (c) of this Code section become effective January 1, 2019, upon the ratification of the question presented to the voters at the November 6, 2018 election. The constitutional amendment was approved by a majority of the qualified voters voting at the general election held on November 6, 2018.
