1. Purpose
It is the purpose of this policy to establish regulations for the use of cell phones.
2. Policy
It is the policy of this department to maintain methods of communication with all
members. The ability to contact members will promote public safety during normal
operations and assist to ensure adequate police coverage in the event of an emergency.
3. Procedures
A patrol cell phone will be provided to on -duty sworn member s of the Windermere Police
Department. The following regulations apply to the use of cell phones :
A. Members are required to carry the issued cell phone at all times while on patro l.
B. Cell phones should be restricted to business purposes with limited personal use.
C. Department -issued cell phones may be used by citizens in cases of emergency
such as accidents, vehicle crashes, stranded persons, disabled vehicles, etc.

D. Members are responsible to keep the department -issued cell phone with the
battery adequately charged.
E. Any damage to the department -issued cell phone shall be brought to the attention
of a supervisor.
