POLICY 194.0BOOKING PROCEDURES REVISED: 11 /2011 REVISED: 5/2019RELATED POLICIES: Reviewed and Revised by Chief David Magnusson 5/2019 A.GENERAL PROCEDURES Upon arrival at the County Jail, the arresting officer will take the prisoner into the booking area with the handcuffs still in place. B.It is strictly forbidden for anyone to enter a detention facility with a weapon or ammunition. Any officer desiring entry to the jail must secure his firearm and any other weapon or device in the trunk or compartment area of the police unit. C.The officer delivering the prisoner to the jail will be responsible for the necessary paperwork which is needed to book the prisoner: 1.Completed Arrest Form. 2.Copy of teletypes. 3.Ward D Form or Refusal Form 4.NOTE: EMS Treatment Form is NOT ACCEPTABLE. D.Felons and Misdemeanors will be transported to the Dade County Jail (DCJ) or Turner Gilford Knight (TGK) if coming from MDPD Warrants, for processing and disposition. E.Juvenile Felons and Misdemeanors to the Juvenile Assessment Center Center (JAC) after El Portal Police Department processing. 1.Transportation will be the responsibility of the arresting officer unless a set of circumstances makes that impossible (e.g. injury).
