POLICY 167.0PROWLERS REVISED: 11/2011 RELATED POLICIES: Reviewed by Chief David Magnusson 4/2019 A.Communications Personnel should keep the victim or witness on the phone during the response and advise victim/witness when police have arrived. Current information can then be relayed to police and the victim/witness will know when to expect police contact. B.More than one unit shall be dispatched and the first assigned officer should coordinate the response. Approach should be quiet. Units should park a reasonable distance from the scene. C.If apprehension is made, identification of the culprit by the victim/witness should be obtained. An Affidavit of Complaint from the victim/witness should be obtained whenever possible. D.If the suspect flees, refuses to identify himself or fails to offer a reasonable explanation that would tend to dispel any alarm he created for the safety of persons or property he may be arrested. Prior to offering the suspect the opportunity to dispel the alarm he MUST be advised of his Miranda Warnings. Page 1 of 1
