POLICY 148.0SEXUAL PREDATORS AND OFFENDERS REVISED: 11/2011RELATED POLICIES: REVIEWED BY CHIEF DAVID MAGNUSSON 4/2019 A.POLICY It is the policy of the El Portal Police Department to completely comply with the Florida Sexual Predator Act (Chapter 775 Florida Statute). The Department will meet or exceed all requirements of municipal law enforcement included in the Act. The Chief of Police or his/her designee will insure such compliance and receive the necessary support from other elements of the Department. B.REGISTRATION OF SEXUAL PREDATORS/OFFENDERS The Department will not register predators or offenders. Any individual who comes to the station to register will be directed to the Miami Dade Police Department at 9125 NW 25th Street for registration. C.SEXUAL PREDATOR/OFFENDER ADDRESS VERIFICATION FIELD OPERATIONS The Department will participate in the quarterly address verification operations that are conducted throughout the County. These operations are a coordinated effort of law enforcement and the Department of Corrections. The Act requires that the address of sexual predators be verified quarterly. The addresses of offenders shall be verified annually. Such operations will ensure the Department’s compliance. D.RECORD RETENTION FOR NOTIFICATIONS The Florida General Schedule for Records Retention GS2 requiring four calendar years retention for sexual predator notification is superceded by this policy. All sexual predator notices and notifications will be retained by this Department for a period no less than 50 years. The Investigative Bureau will retain these files. Page 1 of 1
