POLICY 109.0OATH OF OFFICE REVISED: 11/2011 RELATED POLICIES: Reviewed by Chief Magnusson 4/2019 A.POLICY It is the policy of the El Portal Police Department to administer an oath of office to new members prior to being sworn in as police officers. This oath of office affirms the member's commitment to enforce the laws and uphold the state and national constitutions. B.POLICE OFFICER OATH OF OFFICE I do solemnly swear that I am a citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of Florida and have all the qualifications as required by the Charter for the position upon which I am about to enter; that I will support the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of Florida, and the ordinances of the Village of El Portal; that I am not a member of any subversive group or organization, and that I will faithfully perform the duties of the office upon which I am now about to enter. So help me God. C.NOTARIZATION The Oath of Office form will be signed by the officer and notarized by an official with license to endorse. D. FORMS All completed (signed and notarized) Oath of Office forms will be forwarded to the Office of the Chief with the original sent to Human Resources and a copy to be retained in the Chief’s Files.
