University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 9.5 Property Management: Acquired and In -custody Property 9.5.9 Flammable (Volatile ) and Hazardous Materials (Revised: 5/10/23 ) A. Items that are flammable or that may contain a combustible fluid, such as gasoline or lighter fluid , shall not be stored in any portion of the UCSF Police Department . 1. Officers submitting flammable materials/items or items containing a combustible fluid for storage or disposal will contact an Evidence and Records Technician or the on -call EHS worker and arrange for transfer of the property to EHS or the SFFD. a. Flammabl e materials shall be referred to the SFFD for storage or disposal. B. Hazardous materials, such as hazardous chemicals, nuclear waste and pressurized tanks , shall not be stored in the Pr operty Intake Room. 1. Officers submitting hazardous materials for storage or disposal will contact an Evidence and Records Technician or the on -call EHS worker and arrange for transfer of the items to EHS or the SFFD. a. If hazardous materials must be taken in as evidence and a photograph will not suffice, they are to be stored by EHS or the SFFD. b. Hazardous materials shall be moved and stored ONLY under the direct superv ision of EHS or the SFFD. C. The Evidence and Records Technicians shall be notified of the disposition of items transferred to EHS or the SFFD .
