8.5 Records: Operations
8.5.18 Clery Fire Log (Issued : 11/3/25 )
In conformance to the Clery Act and 34 CFR 668.49(d), a ny institution that maintains on -campus
housing facilities must maintain a fire log . The Crime Analyst will be responsible for updating the
UCSF fire log following any report of a fire at a UCSF on -campus student housing facility and
consult with the UCSF Fire Marshal and UCSF Housing Services regarding reports of fire and log
content.
A. The fire log is required to be a written , easily understood record of fire s occurring in an on -
campus student housing facility.
1. The log must include the nature, date, time and general location of each fire.
2. The log may include the number of injuries and/or deaths associated with the fire,
the amount of property damage sustained and the UCSF Police Department case
number associated with the incident.
3. Fires must be recorded in the log within two business da ys of being reported .
4. UCSF must make the fire log for the most recent 60 -day period open to public
inspection and any portion of the log older than 60 days available within two
business days of receiving a request for public inspection.
B. A copy of t he fire log shall be posted on the UCSF Police Department website. The Crime
Analyst shall update the log on an at least monthly basis and indicate if no fires occurred
during the prior month.
C. The fire log shall be retained for seven years.
