University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 8.5 Records: Operations 8.5.14 Separation of Juvenile and Adult Arrest Records (Revised: 6/19/20 ) A. Upon reaching adult age, an individual may petition to have his or her juvenile record sealed. A request may be sent directly to the Police Department for consideration , to be reviewed by the Chief of Police. If the agency denies the request to seal the record , the individual may pursue a court order to seal the record. B. Upon receipt of a court order to seal a juvenile’s record , the TSD Director shall: 1. Comply with the court order and forward fs a copy of the order to all agencies that participated in the arrest 2. Immediately provide a copy of the co urt order to the California DOJ 3. Seal the court order and case materials in an envelop e 4. Docum ent the date of destruction clearly on the envelope 5. Shred the physical record and lock or ex punge the CAD and RMS records on the destruction date.
