University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 8.4 Records: Administration 8.4.14 Report Numbering (Updated: 12/3/19 ) Sun Ridge Sy stem RIMS (CAD/RMS) assigns a CAD -specific Incident N umber to each and every Call for Service ; this applies to both Officer Initiated Activity (OIA) and Calls for Service (CFS). A Case Number is assigned to an incident when a Case Report is to be written . Incident Numbers and Case Numbers do not match but are linked in the corresponding CAD Incident Number and RMS Cas e Report. Duplicate Incident Numbers shall be merged into one Incident Number by the Public Safety Dispatcher or RIMS System Administrator . If an Officer requests a Case Number and subsequently does not need to write a Case R eport, the Case Number shall be voided only by changing the Offense to VOID (Voided Case). A. Incident Number 1. YYMMDDxxxx (4-digit sequential number that rolls over each day) 2. For example: 1904110123 B. Case Number 1. YYYY -xxxxxx (6 -digit sequential number that covers each calendar year) 2. For example: 2019 -001234 .
