University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 6.5 Campus Security Systems 6.5.3 Building Security and Access (Revised: 2/20/25 ) A. Access Control The security of UCSF facilities is maintained through the joint effort of the UCSF Police Department, UCSF Facilities Services and other UCSF departments. UCSF buildings are secured by proprietary locking and security systems (ACAMs), including electronic access proxy card control readers and key locks. 1. WeID manages a card access program for UCSF buildings and locations and issues badges to UCSF students and employees. 2. Access to individual department locations on campus is managed by the associated department, in partnership with WeID and Human Resources. 3. UCSF Housing : WeID provides UCSF -affiliated tenants with badge and key access to assigned UCSF Housing locations. Housing Services issues key fobs to provide non-UCSF affiliated tenants with access . 4. Campus building entry is monitored, both during and after business hours, by UCSF Police Security Services and Medical Center Security personnel and by campus security cameras. a. UCSF Police Security Service s personnel control visitor entry into UCSF campus locations, including UCSF Housing. b. Any reports of trespassing or unlawful entry are referred to the UCSF Police Department. Upon notification, sworn officers will enforce relevant state and federal laws , including the issuance of stay away orders to persons on UCSF property without lawful business. B. Maintenance and Upgrading of Campus Facilities 1. UCSF Facilities Services maintains and monitors all campus facilities and associated infrastructure, in cluding utilities, campus entry ways (doors, locks, card readers, etc.), fire alarms, intrusion alarms, panic buttons, video camera systems and lighting. 2. Any issue with, damage to or vandalism of campus infrastructure that is reported to the UCSF Police Department is immediately communicated to Facilities Services. 3. The UCSF Police Department, in cooperation with Facilities Services and other campus departments, conducts regular security reviews of existing and proposed UCSF buildings and infrastructu re, applying the most up -to-date information on physical safety and security, for the purpose of mitigating the possibility of criminal activity on campus. 4. Any physical security upgrade requested by a UCSF department must be reviewed by the UCSF Police Department prior to implementation.
