University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 5.1 Criminal Investigations: Organization and Administration 5.1.11 Utilization of Uniformed Officers (Issued: 6/25/07) As a general policy, uniformed patrol officers will be the initial responding officers to cases requiring investigation. Patrol officers will conduct preliminary investigations unless it is determined by the officer and his/her supervisor t hat a detective should respond. In many cases, patrol officers will satisfactorily complete and conclude a case based on t heir initial investigation.
