University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 4.23 Law Enforcement Facility Interview and Booking 4.23.2 Detained Juveniles (Issued: 6/25/07) In the event a juvenile has committed a crime or other violation or is being held as a runaway, the officer shall detain the juvenile in accordance with California State Law. The parent or guardian of the juvenile shall be contacted as soon as possible. Whenever practical, the juvenile should be released to the parent/guardian in the field. If a parent/guardian is cannot be contacted, the o fficer shall notify the supervisor, so arrangements with another juvenile services or juvenile detention agency may be made.
