University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 4.17 Traffic Direction and Control 4.17.4 Temporary Traffic Control Devices (Revised: 8/1/14) During emergencies and special events, the Department may use temporary traffic control devices, such as reversible or temporary signs, moveable barriers, etc. The temporary traffic control devices shall be deployed at the direction/approval of the Field Supervisor. Officers placing temporary control devices shall be responsible for their removal. If temporary control devices are still in place when the officer who placed them reaches the end of his/her tour of duty, he/she shall inform the on -coming supervisor, who will assume responsibility for directing removal of the devices.
