University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 4.5 Patrol: Organization and Administration 4.5.13 Foot and Bicycle Patrols (Issued: 6/25/07) In order to provide the most efficient use of resources to resolve community issues, officers may be assigned temporary foot or bicycle patrol responsibility in a specified area to address a particular or chronic problem. In addition, officers are encouraged to periodically patrol on foot or by bicycle (if assigned to the bicycle patrol function), in their given districts/beats , to provid e more opportunity for direct citizen contact.
