University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 4.5 Patrol: Organization and Administration 4.5.5 Shift Assignments (Revised: 5/5/20 ) Shift assignments will be made in accordance with the provisions outlined in the current Federated University Police Officers’ Association (FUPOA) contract. A. The shift bid will be conducted a minimum of thirty days prior to the next shift change. Officer shift bids will be based on Department seniority. The University may change the seniority -based shift bid for reasons as noted in the FUPOA contract and accord ing to Department needs. B. Corporal shift bids will be based on Department seniority. Corporals may be assigned to a rotation in Investigations at the request of the FSD Lieutenant. Corporals may also be assigned to a shift as a Watch Commander. C. The completed shift schedule will be posted electronically on the police shared drive, in the PLANIT scheduling software (viewable via desktop, laptop or mobile app) and physically in the office of the Sergeant in charge of scheduling. D. FSD Lieutenants and/ or the FSD Captain will set staffing levels for each Patrol shift prior to the shift bid. E. Vacation sign -up sheets will be posted semi -annually and maintained on the police shared drive and in the PLANIT scheduling software; a physical copy will be kept by the Sergeant in charge of scheduling. Vacation selection criteria will be established in accordance with the provisions outlined in the current FUPOA contract.
