University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 3.39 Performance Evaluation: Organization 3.39.8 Performance Rating Measurements (Revised: 7/20/21 ) Performance rating measurements are used to assess the employee’s performance and provide a consistent measurement for all personnel. Performance evaluation definitions for personnel are as follow: A. Police Officers 1. Superior: The employee's performance far exceeds the performance expectation. 2. More than Satisfactory: The employee's per formance frequently exceeds the performance expectation. 3. Satisfactory: The employee's performance meets the performance expectation. 4. Improvement Nee ded: The employee's performance does not meet the performance expectation. 5. Unsatisfactory: The employee's performance is fa r below the performance expectation , and the employee does not show the willingness or ability to improve. B. All Other Employees 1. CE − Consistently Exceeds: The employee c onsistently exceeds all standards or goals. 2. MA − Meets and Exceeds : The emplo yee m eets all standards or goals and in many instances exceeds them. 3. M − Meets All: The employee meets all standards or goals. 4. PM − Partially Meets: The employee partially meets minimum standards or goals; improvement is needed. 5. FM − Fails to Meet: The employee fails to meet standards or goal s; performance is unacceptable . 6. N/A − Not Applicable: The performance factor is not relevant to the position .
