University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders Page 1 3.30 Training: Organization and Administration 3.30.2 Agency Training Committee (Revised: 8/9/21 ) Under the direction of the PSD Commander, the Police Department shall utilize a training committee to assist in recommending, assessing, presenting and evaluating Department training. The Training Committee reports to the PSD Commander, who reports directly to the Chief of Police. The Training Committee should consist of a minimum of four individuals and should include a member from each Division. Committee members should include the PSD Commander, line - level sworn with training function responsibilities, non -sworn staff, supervisors and managers. Committee member(s) and replacements will be selected by the PSD Commander. Trainin g Committee members shall serve at the discretion of the Chief of Police. The Training Committee’s relation to the training function is to ensure the training being provided meets the needs of the Department, in accordance with all applicable laws, regul ations and policies. The Committee assists in developing and evaluating training needs and serves as a focal point for input into the various training curriculums. The Training Committee shall meet at least annually and as needed to: A. Assist with the identification and development of recommended training programs that will enhance the professionalism of the Police Department B. Assist in evaluating, updating and revising training programs on an annual basis and make recommendations regarding futur e training programs based upon community and Police Department needs C. Review training programs, review and approve lesson plans, identify any problems areas associated with training and make recommendations for additional training for Police Department personnel. Training Committee recommendations will be presented to the PSD Commander for review and subsequent presentation to the Chief of Police for consideration/action.
