University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 3.26 Selection: Background Investigations 3.26.1 Pre-employment Background Investigation (Revised : 10/5/22 ) A background investigation will be conducted on candidates being considered for employment within the Police Department. The background investigation is intended to verify the applicant’s qualifications on the basis of information provided on the candidate ’s pre-employment questionnaire and disclosed during the oral board and Chief’s or Captain’s interview. All sworn officer and dispatcher background investigations will be conducted in accordance with the POST Background Investigations Manual. Background investigations for all other members of the Department shall adhere to the UCSF Critical Position/Background Check Policy. The background investigation will be assigned either internally and/or to a reputable background investigation service. All background investigators must be POST -certified.
