University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 2.4 Planning and Research: Organization 2.4.2 Planning and Research Supervision (Revised: 1/6/25 ) To ensure that the Chief of Police is kept well informed of the status and progress of planning and research projects, the member(s) primarily responsible for the function and/or individual projects will either report directly to the Chief of Police or have no more than one person in the chain of command between him/herself and the Chief of Police . A. Division Managers are responsible for the general research and planning function and report either directly to the Chief of Police or to another Division Ma nager report ing directly to the Chief of Police. B. Other manage rs with occasional involvement i n planning activities report either directly to the Chief of Police or to a Division Manager report ing directly to the Chief of Police .
