University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 1.8 Mutual Aid 1.8.8 Mutual Aid Agreement Contents (Revised: 1/22/20) A. The Mutual Aid Agreement provides the necessary authority to initiate mutual aid activities either on behalf of the Department or at the request of a neighboring law enforcement agency. The University reviews and approves agreements with other law enforcem ent agencies pursuant to California Government Cod e § 8617 . Written agreements are maintained with agencies that have concurrent jurisdictions on campus , as well as agencies that have "understandings" with the Department . The agreements are kept by the Off ice of the Chief and , along with California Emergency Management Agency Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Plan , address: 1. The legal status of agencies and agency personnel re sponding to mutual aid requests 2. Procedures for vesting provider agency personnel with the legal authority to act within t he receiver agency jurisdiction 3. Proce dures for requesting mutual aid 4. Identity of those persons a uthorized to request mutual aid 5. Identity of persons to who m outside personnel are to report 6. Proced ures for maintaining radio commu nication with outside personnel 7. Expenditures, if any, which should be borne by the receiver agency to compensate for the use of t he provider agency’s resources 8. Procedures for review and revision if prescribed in the ag reement.
