University of California, San Francisco Police Department General Orders 1.5 Direction 1.5.1 Responsibilities of the Chief (Revised: 9 /30/10) The Chief of Police is the chief executive officer of the Police Department. Under the general administrative direction of the Senior Vice Chancellor, Financ ial and Administrative Services, the Chief of Police shall be responsible for and has commensurate authority to command, direct and organize a police department on a University of California Campus. This includes establishin g objectives for the department, develop ing department policies and procedur es, preparing the budget and selecting, app ointing, training, disciplining and promoting sworn and non-sworn personnel in the department.
