CATEGORY DATE ADOPTED LAST REVIEW 2 01/24/2011 12/01/201 9 TUSTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES SS528 - Mugshot System 1 SS528 MUGSHOT SYSTEM SS528.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE The purpose of this procedure is to describe the process for obtaining an arrestee booking photo or registrant photo. SS528.1.2 ACCREDITATION STANDARDS This policy pertains to the following CALEA Standards : 1.2.5 This policy pertains to the following General Order(s): §900 SS528 .2 TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS For an arrestee brought to the station for fingerprinting and photo or a registrant photo, the Mugshot system will be utilized. This system will store a subject’s photo in the LaserFiche system alphabetically by last name. The photos can only be taken in the designated mugshot area. The computer set -up is connected to the camera and the Mugshot system. 1. Log onto the computer by entering mug1 for b oth the username and password. Once the following screen appears, double click on the mug shot icon located at the top left corner. Begin entering the information accordingly in each box on the mug shot data entry screen. The case number, last name, fir st name, DOB, and P# are mandatory fields that cannot be bypassed. 3. The case number should be entered in 7 digits. The system does not allow the entry with a hyphen, it must be replaced with a 0 (zero). If the subject has two last names, enter the last n ame as one. Do not separate the last names with a hyphen or a space. The date of birth should be entered as a two digit month, two digit day, and four digit year (e.g. 01/01/1987). A red exclamation point will appear if a mandatory field is not filled in (this picture shows the exclamation point) . 4. Instruct the subject to stand with their back against the wall and place the feet on the shoe impressions located on the ground. Click on the Take Photo button to activate the mug shot capture screen. Instruct the subject to look straight ahead with their eyes open. Click the Camera icon on the left side to activate the camera and capture the photograph. Click the Review button on the lower right corner to check the image . If the photograph is no t acceptable, select the Start Over button located on the lower left side and repeat the previous step to recapture the image. 7. To save the image, click on the Save button on the lower right corner. Press on the Save to Laserfiche box. A green status bar along with a message box indicating the file has been created will appear. Close out the window upon completion.
