CATE GORY DATE ADOPTED LAST REVIEW NEXT REVIEW 2 02/10/2016 03/01/201 9 03/01/20 20 TUSTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES SS340 COMMUNICATIONS CENTER WELLNESS EQUIPMENT SS34 0.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE To promote fitness and wellness during their shift, exercise equipment is available in the communications center and can be utilized while on duty. Tustin Police Communications Center employees, who comply with the established guidelines, are approved to use this equipment. SS340 .1.2 ACCREDITATION STANDARDS This p rocedure pertains to the following CALEA Standards: N/A This procedure pertains to the following General Orders: N/A SS340 .2 EQUIPMENT The following equipment is available to be used by Tustin Police Communications Center employees . a) Desk Bike; b) Mini Stepper ; c) Mini Elliptical ; d) 7 Piece Dumbbell Set . Use of the equipment is voluntary . Prior to use, the employee must complete the Tustin Police Communications Center Waiver and Release Form and train with the departments designated trainer . 340.3 EQUIPMENT USE Equipment is for the use of Tustin Police Communications Center employees only. No family members of employees, visitors, observers, or any other non -Tustin Police Department Communication employee is permitted to use the equipment. It is the responsibility of users to follow directions of their personal physician when using exercise equipment. The equipment may not be used when recovering from any injury or during an illness. The equipment should only be used during an em ployee’s on duty time and the established guidelines shall be followed: a) Closed toed shoes are required to be worn when using the equipment ; b) Food or drink should not be consumed while using the equipment ; c) Sixty (60) minute blocks of time should be observed consider ing other employees interest in use of equipment ; CATE GORY DATE ADOPTED LAST REVIEW NEXT REVIEW 2 02/10/2016 03/01/201 9 03/01/20 20 TUSTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES d) Equipment may not be used during a sit -along or during new employee training ; e) Use should not exceed an employee’s cardiovascular abilit y which may impact phone or radio traffic (i.e. hard breathing) ; f) Equipment should not be used during peak work load hours, during a critical incident or any other time use would detract from work performance . Equipment must be adju sted for proper ergonomic control of all monitors, keyboard and mice. If equipment is damaged or malfunctioning, it should be taken out of use and supervisory personnel notified. Equipment is to be cleaned after each use. Supervisors reserve the right to limit or withdraw usage if guidelines are not adhered to.
