CATEGORY DATE ADOPTED LAST REVIEW NEXT REVIEW 3 1/24/2011 06/01/201 9 12/01/20 20 TUSTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES SS334 - Dispatch Collateral Duties 1 SS334 DISPATCH COLLATERAL DUTIES SS334.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE This procedure establishes guidelines for a rotational collateral duty schedule for Communications Officers. SS334.1.2 ACCREDITATION STANDARDS This procedure pertains to the following CALEA Standards: This p rocedure pertains to the following General Orders: SS334.2 9-1-1 CUT OVER/ALARM TESTI NG Call Station 18 (Sheriff's Dept.) to ask them to "cut over" and take all incoming TPD 911 calls. Wait two minutes, then call 911. Did a Station 18 dispatcher answer the call? Advise them it was a test and that they can switch back over to normal 911 operation. Write the date of the successful test on the log sheet and turn it in to a Lead Dispatcher.Call back Station 18 to ensure they had flipped the switch. Call 911 again. Did Station 18 answer? Call back Station 18 and your Supervisor to advise them the "cut over" switch is NOT working.Yes! No! YES! NO! OI CATEGORY DATE ADOPTED LAST REVIEW NEXT REVIEW 3 1/24/2011 06/01/201 9 12/01/20 20 TUSTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES SS334 - Dispatch Collateral Duties 2 SS334. 3 INTERNAL ALARM TESTS SS334.3 .1 FRONT COUNTER PANIC ALARM Activate the Panic Alarm by depressing one of the red buttons located beneath the counter and desks in the Front Counter area of the Police Department. A high-pitched audible alarm being heard throughout the station indicates the alarm works properly. Reset the alarm by obtaining the appropriate key from the left -most cabinet beneath the counter, inserting it into the key hole next to the red -button that was depressed and turning it in a clock -wise motion. Note the date and result of the test onto the alarm log sheet and turn it in to a Communications Lead. SS334. 3.2 SALLY PORT AND CELLS AREA “KICK PLATE” ALARMS Activate the “kick plate” alarm in the “Sally Port” area by kicking one of the silver steel plates located at app roximately knee height along the walls of the Sally Port. A loud audible alarm will sound throughout the station indicating the alarm is working appropriately. The alarm can then be reset by depressing the white “reset” button located on the blue box beneath the monitor of Dispatch Station #2 in the back right corner of the Dispatch Room. Repeat these steps in the “Cells” area of the Police Department and note the result for both tests on the Alarm Log sheet and turn it in to a Communications Lead. SS33 4.3.3 CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE Telephone the City Manager’s office (weekdays only) and request they activate the panic alarm by pressing the red button located in the office located in the desks of both the Executive Secretary and the Executive Officer. A loud audible alarm should be heard from each individual Dispatch Station through the “Velocity” system and live footage from the City Manager’s Office should automatically appear on the large camera monitor on the south wall of the Dispatch Center. The alarm can be reset by locating the key in the upper right hand drawer of the Executive Secretary’s desk , putting it in the key hole next to the red button that had been depressed and turning it in a clockwise motion. SS334.3 .4 FINANCE DEPARTMENT Telephone the Finance Department (weekdays only) and request they activate the panic alarm by depressing one of the three red buttons located beneath the counter of the Finance Section. A loud audible alarm should be heard from each individual Dispatch Station through the “Velocity” system and live footage from the Finance Counter should automatically appear on the large camera monitor on the south wall of the Dispatch Center. The alarm can be reset by locating the key hung in the “Vault/Storage Room” area, putting it in the key hole next to the red button that had been depressed and turning it in a clockwi se motion. Note the date and result of the test onto the alarm log sheet and turn it in to a Communications Lead. SS334.3 .5 HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT Telephone the Human Resources Department (weekdays only) and request they activate the panic alarm by d epressing the red button located beneath the front counter . A loud audible alarm should be heard from each individual Dispatch Station through the “Velocity” system and live footage from the Human Resources counter should automatically appear on the larg e camera monitor on the south wall
