PS116 - Police Recruit Temporary Assignment 1 PS116 POLICE RECRUIT TEMPO RARY ASSIGNMENT
PS116.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The purpose of this procedure is to establish the guidelines for newly hired Police Recruits to be
assigned temporarily to civilian positions within the agency prior to attending a P.O.S.T . basic
training academy.

PS116.2 WEAPONS AND ENFORCEMENT
Upon the completion of the hiring process, Police Recrui ts may be assigned to civilian positions
within the agency prior to the attendance of a P.O.S.T. basic academy. Police Recruits
temporarily assigned to either of the two bureaus listed below are not considered Peace
Officers, therefore, shall not carry a weapon, enforce laws or make arr ests until the y successful
complete a structured basic training academy.
