108 - Mission, Vision and Values Statements 1 POLICY 108 MISSION, VISION AND VALUE S STATEMENTS
108.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The Tustin Police Department maintains a professional and dedicated approach to delivering the
finest law enforcement services to the community we serve. We have developed and fo llow a
strategic plan for the operation of the department on a daily and long term basis. The Mission,
Vision and Value s Statements of the Tustin Police Department reflect the pride in our profession
and dedication to the citizens we serve.
108.1.1 ACCRE DITATION STANDARDS
This policy pertains to the following CALEA Standards: 12.2.1
108.2 MISSION STATEMENT
The Tustin Police Department is committed to a policing model of Community Governance. To that
end, the mission is to work in partnership with other city departments, the residential and business
community, and other governmental and non -profit agencies to reduce crime, provide a sense of
safety and security and improve the quality of life for those who visit, live, a nd work in the City of
Tustin.
108.3 VISION STATEMENT
Community Governance is both a philosophy and an organizational strategy that allows the police
department and the community to work together in order to address crime, the fear of crime, social
disorder, and blight. It is a servic e oriented and personalized style of policing which emphasizes
ownership, problem solving and a proactive partnership with the community.
108.4 VALUES STATEMENT
For the Tustin Police Department to maintain public trust, we must constantly demonstrate tha t our
partnership with the community will be objective and securely rooted in consistently applied ethical
principles. As an organization, our principal goals are the preservation and protection of human life,
and propose to fairly and impartially carry ou t the Mission of the Department with P.R.I.D.E .
Partnership – We take pride in developing relationships with the people we serve.
Respect – We respect and value the dignity and worth of all persons, recognizing that div ersity
enriches our community.
Innovation – We will remain an innovative and progressive organization through leadership,
education and technology in partnership with the community we serve.
Dedication – We hold an individual’s right to constitutional protection sacred and place the hi ghest
value on preserving life. We are accountable and responsive to the community that we serve.
