B-13 SUBJECT: UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT INDEX AS: SAME AS ABOVE RESCINDS: REVISES: DATE REVISED : 06/28 /2018 DISTRIBUTION ALL MEMBERS I. PURPOSE: The purpose of this directive is to establish the guidelines for uniform and equipment requirements for all members. This directive is effective for members upon issuance and receipt of all uniforms and equipment with the completion and acknowledgement on a Uniform and Equipment Checklist. II. SCOPE: All Members III. PRO CEDURE: A. The Issued Official Uniform for Law Enforcement Officers : 1. Navy Uniform Hat: a) The navy hat shall be part of the official uniform for officers assigned to patrol and shall not be worn so far forward as to obscure vision. b) The hat’s brim shall be an eq ual distance above each ear and not tilted higher on one side than the other. c) The hat shall be worn with the bottom portion of the front part of the sweatband positioned no higher than approximately one (1”) inch above the eyebrow. d) The hair on the front pa rt of the head shall not extend below or be visible from under the sweatband. e) Clear plastic hat covers are permissible during inclement weather. 2. Uniform Shirts: a) Class “A” long-sleeved shirt shall be worn for special occasions and as directed by the Chi ef of Police. 1) Uniformed officers may choose to wear the long-sleeved class “A” shirt year - round as the uniform of the day . (a) When worn as the uniform of the day, the class “A” shirt should not display ceremonial buttons or other ornamentation and may be worn with an open collar, issued tie, or a turtle neck/mock turtle neck purchased by the member . __________________________________________ ________________________________ _______________________________ General Orde r B-13 2 of 13 Uniforms and Equipment (1) When worn in this manner, the class “A” shirt may be worn while utilizing the external load bearing vest carrier. (2) The turtle neck or mock turtle neck must be black in color and may have “TTPD” in silver or gold threaded embroidery which matches the authorized color of the officers’ col lar insignia. The embroidery shall be off center to the wearer’s left, centered between the top edge and bottom seam of the collar. No other emblem or embroidery may be visible when wearing this uniform option . (b) The class “A” shirt will be worn with the issued uniform tie during special occasions and as otherwise directed by the Chief of Police or designee. b) Class “B” short -sleeved uniform shirt may be worn year round as the uniform of the day by all uniformed officers and is to be worn with the collar op en and no tie . 1) The class “B” shirt may be worn while utilizing the external load bearing vest carrier. c) Class “C” uniform shirts are not initially issued to new officers; they may be ordered during yearly uniform replacement cycles or purchased by officer s with less than one (1) year service upon approval of the Chief of Police. 1) The short -sleeved class “C” uniform shirt may be worn year round as the uniform of the day. 2) At the officer’s discretion, the long -sleeved class “C” uniform shirt may also be worn year round as the uniform of the day. (a) A turtle neck or mock turtle neck may be worn in conjunction with the class “C” long sleeved shirt. If worn, the turtle neck or mock turtle neck shall be black in color and may have “TTPD” in silver or gold threaded embroidery which matches the authorized color of the officers’ collar insignia. The embroidery shall be off center to the wearer’s left, centered between the top edge and bottom seam of the collar. No other emblem or embroidery may be visible when weari ng this uniform option. 3) Both class “C” shirts shall be worn with an open collar. NOTE: The phase -out date for general wear of the Class “C” shirt will be March 1, 2017. The Class “C” uniform may thereafter only be utilized by officers attending training, by K -9 officers during K -9 demonstrations or as otherwise specifically authorized by the Chief of Police or designee. d) Class “D” uniform shirts are not initially issued to new officers ; they may be ordered during yearly uniform replacement cycles or purchased by officers with less than one (1) year service upon approval of the Chief of Police. 1) While in public, the class “D” shirt is designed to be worn under the external load bearing ve st carrier at all times . 2) The short -sleeved class “D” uniform shirt may be worn year round as the uniform of the day when worn in conjunction with the wearing of the approved external load bearing vest carrier . 3) At the officer’s discretion, the long -sleeved class “D” uniform shirt may also be worn year round as the uniform of the day when worn in conjunction with the wearing of the approved external load bearing vest carrier . __________________________________________ ________________________________ _______________________________ General Orde r B-
