PURPOSE: The purpose of this directive is to establish an Oath of Office for a ll members. Taking an oath of office is a uni versal practice in law en force ment service. Th e oath ex presses the member's intention to respect ap plicable constitu tional rights. This directive applies to all members. II. SCOPE: All Members III. DISCUSSION : It shall be the intent of the Temple Terrace Police Department for all members , prior to assignment, to take and sub sequently abide by an oath of office to enforce the law and uphold the Constitu tion of the United States, the Constitution of the State of Florida, and the ordinanc es of the City of Temple Terrace. IV. OATH OF OFFICE (Sworn Members ) A. The following oath must be executed by each police officer prior to being assigned to any law enforcement duties. I, _____________________, a citizen of the State of Florida and of the United States of America, and being employed by or an officer of the City of Temple Terrace, Florida, and a recipient of public funds as such employee or officer, do hereby solemnly swear or affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and of the State of Florida. LOYALTY OATH (Civilian Members) A. The following oath must be executed by each civilian employee of the Temple Terrace Police Department prior to being assigned to any duties.
