A. PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for the c are, maintenance, and use of Sunny Isles Beach Police
Department vehicles and to establish guidelines for the assignm ent and accountability of members participating in
the Department’s Take-Home Vehicle Program.

B. SCOPE
This directive is applicable to members who participate in the Department’s Take-Home Vehicle Program. This
directive is not intended to be totally inclusive. It is to be used as a general guideline in conjunction with all other
Department directives, rules regulations and policies, along wi th the City’s Employee Policies and Procedures
Manual, as amended.
C. POLICY
It is the policy of the City of Sunny Isles Beach Police Depart ment to implement and maintain a Take Home Vehicle
Program as a means of increasing police visibility on the stree ts and in the neighborhoods of the City, providing for
prompt response by on and off-duty personnel to certain inciden ts, and increasing longevity of Department owned
vehicles. Department vehicles shall be operated in a safe and p rofessional manner. All members operating
Departmental vehicles shall conform to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding
