PURPOSE The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for the o peration and administration of the Uniform Patrol Division and the general respons ibilities of the members of the Division. B. POLICY It is the policy of the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department to maintain a highly visible Uniform Patrol Division that is responsive to the needs of the community. C. SCOPE AND APPLICABILITY This policy applies to all members assigned to the Uniform Patr ol Division, to include anyone assigned to the Division on a temporary basis. D. DEFINITIONS Division Commander(s) Lieutenant(s) – The command level officer in charge of the Uniform Patrol Di vision and all assigned personnel. Shift Supervisor (Sergeant) – The shift supervisor is responsible for overseeing the shift , call assignments and time management of each member of the squad. Acting Supervisor/Sergeant – Performs the same functions of the shift supervisor when the Sergeant is not present. Patrol Officers – Responsible for the calls for service and other law enforcem ent functions as outlined in their specific job descriptions and other Department policies. The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department is a full service law e nforcement agency prepared to respond to any type of emergency or call for service received from the com munity. The Uniform Patrol Division provides 24-hour response to requests for law enforcement servi ce within the City of Sunny Isles Beach. 2. Chain of Command: a. The Uniform Patrol Division chain of command is as follows:  Chief of Police  Deputy Chief of Police  Division Commander(s) Lieutenant (s)  Shift Supervisor (Sergeant)  Acting Supervisor/Sergeant  Patrol Officers 3. Roll Call: a. A mandatory roll call shall be held prior to the beginning of e ach shift. b. Roll call briefings shall include the following information: Zone assignments, changes in sche duling, and new or revised dir ectives; Major investigations and unusua l situations or occurrences with in the community; Actual or potential hazards that may be encountered during the patrol shift; Changes in the status of wanted persons, stolen vehicles and ma jor investigations; Training; and Anything the shift superv isor deems appropriate. c. Shift Debriefing Whenever possible, depending on current operational status of t he department, shift supervisors and/or acting supervisors shall hold a shift debriefing with the curre nt on-duty squad.
