I.32 EMERGENCY COLOR CODE SYSTEM Page 1 of 1 #15//09 San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Detention Services Bureau – Manual of Policies and Procedures PURPOSE To establish continuity among all facilities in alerting and summoning appropriate detention facility staff (professional and sworn) to emergency situations. POLICY All detention facilities shall implement and maintain the following emergency color code system. It is the responsibility of each detention facility staff member to be able to accurately identify the color code that corresponds to the occurring emergency. PROCEDURES In the event of an emergency, staff shall announce the color code associated with the specific emergency situation via radio, telephone, or other means of communication.
