1Santa Clara County Office of the Sheriff Surveillance Use Policy for the Command Vehicle Camera Purpose The Pelco CC3770 Series DayA{ight Camera (ooCommand Vehicle Camera") is affixed to the Sheriff s Tactical Command Vehicle and is utilized to monitor the perimeter of the Command Vehicle for security putposes in real time. A search warrant is not required for operation of the Command Vehicle Camera. 2. Authorized and Prohibited Uses The Command Vehicle Camera shall be used only in real time to monitor the perimeter of the Tactical Command Vehicle during tactical operations, training exercises, or any other official use of the command vehicle. The Command Vehicle Camera shall not be used for personal or non-law enforcement uses. 3.Data Collection The Command Vehicle Camera shall provide only real-time video footage and shall not record or store footage. 4.I)ata Access Access to real-time video shall be limited to members of the Sheriff s Emergency Response Team (SERT) or other Sheriffls representatives assigned to the incident or training exercise, including Sheriff s Office Command Staff members. 5. Data Protection There is no recorded data to be secured, nor shall it be recorded. 6. Data Retention The Command Vehicle Camera shall not record or store data. 7. Public Access The public shall not have access to real-time video from the Command Vehicle Camera. 8. Third-Party Data-Sharing For joint law enforcement operations including exercises, employees from other law enforcement agencies inside of the SherifPs Tactical Command Vehicle may be provided access to view live streaming video from the Command Vehicle Camera. Oversight The SERT Commander or Tactical Vehicle Commander shall oversee the operation of the Command Vehicle Camera, as well as compliance with this Surveillance Use Policy. An audit log shall be kept for use of the camera to ensure compliance with this policy. Sheriff s administration shall review the audit 1og as it deems necessary, and at least annually.
