Published with permission by Santa Ana Police Department***DRAFT*** Special Assignments and Promotions - 1Special Assignments and Promotions 107.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for promotions and for making special assignments within the Santa Ana Police Department. 107.2 POLICY The Santa Ana Police Department determines assignments and promotions in a nondiscriminatory manner based upon job-related factors and candidate skills and qualifications. Assignments and promotions are made by the Chief of Police. Certain special assignments come with special assignment pay as outlined in the SAPOA Memorandum of Understanding. 107.3 SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT POSITIONS The following positions are considered special assignments and not promotions: (a)Classification correctional officer (b)Training Officer (c)Jail Transportation Officer (d)Mail Officer (e)Range/Firearms/Control Devices Instructor (f)Jail Administration Senior Correctional Officer See Santa Ana Police Department Policy 1002.
