Published with permission by Santa Ana Police DepartmentWATCH COMMANDER WORK SCHEDULE - 1WATCH COMMANDER WORK SCHEDULE 4003.1 INTRODUCTION This procedure establishes the work schedules for Commanders assigned as Patrol Watch Commanders. 4003.2 POLICY 1.Commanders assigned to the Field Operations Bureau as Watch Commanders will be assigned to a 3/12-4/12 work schedule. 2.The minimum workday will consist of 11 hours and 30 minutes of work, with 30 additional minutes for meals (Code 7). 3.A minimum work period shall consist of four (4) consecutive weeks, with alternating work weeks of three (3) shifts of 11 hours and 30 minutes one week and four (4) shifts of 11 hours and 30 minutes the next week. 4.In accordance with Department policy, work schedules may be modified to accommodate attendance at training, conferences, meetings, special events or other work-related activities. In such cases, the commander will ensure the appropriate entries are made in the ISE Scheduling system and the pertinent "chits" are submitted to Fiscal. 5.In accordance with the P.M.A. MOU, commanders shall not be required to submit a Leave of Absence Report (chit) for absences of two (2) hours or less. In that, this work schedule may need modification in the future to ensure effective management of patrol shifts and to meet organizational and community needs as to deployment of police commanders, said changes will be made at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
